Auto Shanghai 2019
For the second time running, SYMA won the order to construct the exhibition stand for Continental at Auto Shanghai 2019.
Since its inception in 1985, Auto Shanghai has developed into the leading trade fair for the automotive industry in Asia. It is the first Chinese international automobile exhibition to become a member of UFI and has recorded steady growth in exhibitor and visitor numbers. In 2019, more than 1,000 exhibitors from 19 countries presented their products and services at the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai on a floor area of around 360,000 square metres and used Auto Shanghai as a platform for knowledge exchange and forging important business contacts.
From 16 to 25 April 2019, Continental presented in Shanghai established and production-ready drive systems and innovative electronic components – including 48V mild hybrid applications, solutions for plug-in hybrids, full hybrids and high-voltage drives. Continental's Powertrain division is investing heavily in this area with new Chinese production sites in Tianjin and Changzhou. "The Chinese market remains essential for the further development of e-mobility – and therefore for us," says Andreas Wolf, Head of the Powertrain Division at Continental.
The Continental exhibition stand had a floor area of 598 m² with around 180 m² on the upper floor. It is an excellent example of successful and harmonious cooperation within the SYMA Group: SYMA EXPO GmbH was commissioned to undertake the project with realisation and execution by SYMA ASIA and support from a project manager from SYMA Prague as the Continental/SYMA Asia interface.
The design concept, technical project management and construction supervision were carried out by Ekkehard Wiesner from Wiesner Messearchitektur GmbH. The design of the Continental stand was dynamic, eye-catching, self-confident and highly visible. The concept posed a major challenge not only in terms of its design, but also in the construction. The exhibition stand was created as a complete custom package using conventional components. The tight construction period in Shanghai of just 7 days for this large stand was an additional challenge and could only be achieved thanks to the superb logistical capabilities of SYMA in cooperation with Wiesner Messearchitektur and the entire Continental trade fair team. The requirements demanded the highest quality in all areas of execution, from the sophisticated wall surfaces and exquisite floor coverings to the choice of the furniture. Overall, an outstanding team performance from the SYMA Group in close cooperation with the Wiesner architectural office and the Continental project management team.
